Walker signs $40 million deal with Broncos

DENVER -- Wide receiver Javon Walker arrived in Denver on Wednesday to sign a $40 million-plus contract extension with the Broncos.

Walker and his agent, Kennard McGuire, went to the team's headquarters to sign the contract that will take him through
2011. Walker is still recovering from a knee injury that ended
his season in the opening game last year.

Walker, who will resume his rehabilitation in Denver, predicted
a full recovery.

"I'm going to come back faster than I was before," he
insisted.

The Broncos declined to discuss terms of the contract. McGuire told The Associated Press the five-year extension, which begins in 2007, was worth more than $40 million.

The deal includes $15 million in option bonuses, $10 million due in 2007 and the other $5 million due in '08, ESPN.com's Michael Smith reported Monday.

Walker, 27, is due to make $1.15 million next season plus a $1 million roster bonus, part of the five-year, $7.485 million
contract he signed after joining the Packers as a first-round draft
pick out of Florida State in 2002.

The former minor league baseball player began seeking a bigger paycheck after the 2004 season, when he caught 89 passes for 1,382
yards and 12 touchdowns and made the Pro Bowl. The Packers refused
to renegotiate because he had two years remaining on his contract.

After replacing agent Drew Rosenhaus with McGuire, Walker again said he wanted out of Green Bay. The Packers accommodated him on April 29 when they traded him to the Broncos for a second-round draft pick.
