Until they upgrade offense, Browns unlikely to contend

NFL, Cleveland Browns

The No. 1 problem with the Cleveland Browns in this millennium has been a lack of stability. This applies to those in charge of selecting players, the coaching staffs and, of course, the unbelievable string of quarterbacks who have attempted to lead this organization on the field.

As a lifelong Pittsburgher, I have seen three Steelers head coaches in my lifetime. In the 365 days that I was an employee of the Browns, I saw the same number of head coaches. That is a huge problem in the big picture.

After another heartbreaking loss, this time to Denver, the Browns sit at 2-4, four games out of first place in the AFC North. The Browns' past three losses have been by a combined 13 points, and they lost by a field goal to both the Chargers and Broncos.

Cleveland isn't winning the Super Bowl this postseason, but the real question is: Are the pieces in place for this franchise to maintain some stability and move toward contention?
