Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar (New Orleans, LA)

About the bar (from official website):

In 1893, a walk-on by the name of Edwin Gayle was the star of LSU's first-ever football game against archrival, Tulane. In fact, truth be told, LSU's storied athletic tradition was initiated by a team composed entirely of walk-ons, since athletic scholarships did not exist at the time. You see, back then, everyone played for the true love of the game, just as every walk-on across the country does today.

Our founders, Jack Warner & Brandon Landry, met in 1997 on the hardwood of LSU's Pete Maravich Assembly Center. As young boys growing up, each dreamed of playing basketball for LSU & both succeeded - it just so happened to be as walk-ons. Jack's first season with the Tigers was in 1996 with Coach Dale Brown & Brandon walked on the team the following year. It was during this time the dream for Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar began to take shape.

Like many good ideas, the concept for Walk-On's was born on a road trip. While traveling throughout the SEC, Jack & Brandon happened to visit quite a variety of restaurants and bars. In fact, the first concept for the restaurant was literally drawn on a napkin in an airplane flying back from a game at the University of Tennessee.

Walk-On's is a culmination of many years of ideas, hopes and dreams. We are a true celebration of great food & drink combined with team spirit & camaraderie. Down here in Cajun Country there is one place to catch it all... Walk-On's Bistreaux and Bar. Two blocks from the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, this state of the art sports bar is one hot spot for any sporting event in the Big Easy. Our first trip to Walk-Ons, which was named after its founders who ''Walked On'' to the LSU basketball team, had us hooked. We all ordered the Hangover Burger which is topped with a fried egg, a few waffle fries, cheese and bacon. The name of this amazing sandwich says it all. While enjoying this delicious entire we downed beer after beer from our own beer tap. Each table has its own beer tap allowing patrons to refill their frosty mugs without waiting for a waitress.

This multi story bistreaux hosts pre and post game parties for all LSU and Saints games and is a major hot spot during the games as there are more TV's in Walk Ons than Best Buy. Not to mention the second story balcony over looking the Super dome and Poydras St. Visit Walk Ons on any Saturday or Sunday in the fall and you will walk away with a huge smile and full stomach.
