The skinny: The Wildcats took seven of ten, including the two toss-up matches at 149 and 157 pounds. At 149 pounds, No. 7 Andrew Nadhir defeated No. 10 Kurt Kinser by decision, 3-1. The highlight bout of the dual came at 157 pounds where No. 5 Jason Welch topped No. 9 Paul Young by decision, 4-1. Northwestern received pins from No. 2 Brandon Precin (125) and Aaron Jones (184) to help salt away the victory.
No. 7 Penn State 42, No. 40 Ohio State 3
The skinny: The Nittany Lions dominated the Buckeyes, taking nine of ten matches, including three by way of fall. The anticipated match between Penn State's No. 3 David Taylor and Ohio State's No. 10 Colt Sponseller turned out to be lackluster as Taylor crushed Sponseller by major decision, 14-1. Ohio State's lone victory came at 197 pounds when Cody Magrum defeated Justin Ortega by decision, 8-2.
No. 13 Illinois 26, No. 34 Purdue 15
The skinny: In a solid Big Ten dual, the Fighting Illini got crucial bonus points with two falls in the upper weights to pull away. At 184 pounds, No. 16 Tony Dallago caught and pinned No. 10 A.J. Kissel, while Patrick Walker pinned Roger Vukobratovich at heavyweight to fuel Illinois' effort. Purdue managed to take four matches, with three by major decision.
No. 29 Oregon State 20, No. 15 Wyoming 15
The skinny: The Beavers took six matches en route to toppling the Cowboys in a western showdown. Top-ranked Joe LeBlanc (184) gave Wyoming hope with a pin at 184 pounds, but two major decisions by Oregon State proved to be too tall a task. The biggest upset came at 125 pounds where the Cowboy's No. 19 Tyler Cox defeated No. 13 Jason Lara by decision, 9-2.
