Results From 12/7-12/13

Results from several of the biggest team and individual matches, as well as upsets from December 7-December 13.

Key Duals:

No. 3 Oklahoma State 22, No. 11 Oklahoma 12

The skinny: Bedlam lived up to the expectations with high-quality wrestling, but most of the action came from Oklahoma State. The Cowboys were fueled by a pair of upsets, none bigger than at heavyweight where unranked Blake Rosholt stunned No. 8 Nathan Fernandez, 4-3, on a third-period reversal. The Sooners got a little consolation at 125 pounds when No. 7 Jarrod Patterson upended No. 5 Jon Morrison, 2-1.

No. 4 Wisconsin 23, No. 58 Northern Iowa 14

The skinny: This dual was much closer than anticipated. The Badgers leaned on top-ranked Andrew Howe (165) and third-ranked Tyler Graff (133) to distance themselves from the pesky Panthers. Howe collected a fall over Nick Pickerell, while Graff notched a major decision over Ryan Jauch, 18-7.

No. 20 Kent State 16, No. 16 Pittsburgh 15

The skinny: In a back and forth dual featuring two top-ten wrestlers coming back from deficits to win and a triple sudden victory, three overtime match, it was all decided by one bonus point. Ross Tice defeated Adam Counterman at 165 pounds, 10-1, to pick up the only bonus point of the dual as Kent State prevailed.

No. 12 Lehigh 23, No. 24 Central Michigan 9

The skinny: Normally this wouldn't be that big of a dual, but Central Michigan, which started the season ranked No. 5, has fallen apart. Lehigh won seven bouts, including a deciding knockout punch from unranked Frank Cagnina at 133 pounds when he defeated No. 11 Scotti Sentes, 3-2, on a late takedown. Top-ranked heavyweight Zach Rey of Lehigh survived in a tiebreaker to upend No. 10 Jarod Trice, 2-1.

No. 32 Purdue 18, No. 22 Missouri 15

The skinny: In a dual featuring a lot of individual talent, it was the Boilermakers coming out on top thanks to major decisions at 157, 184 and 197 pounds. The highlighted bout of the meet came at 174 where Purdue's Luke Manuel out-muscled Missouri's Dorian Henderson, 2-1.
