Pitching scuttlebutt

The Baltimore Orioles have shut down Dylan Bundy (hamstring) for the season. Kevin Gausman is also likely to get another start on Oct. 1. It is unclear who will start the Sept. 30 game, as Miguel Castro and Mike Wright are the two leading candidates.

The Tampa Bay Rays have shut down Alex Cobb for the season, and will give Jacob Faria a start in his place on Thursday.

Carson Fulmer (blister) was removed from his Thursday start after only three batters, but he's tentatively scheduled to return to the Chicago White Sox's rotation on Sept. 30. The Chicago White Sox have shut down both James Shields and Lucas Giolito for the season, so Chris Volstad should get another start on Oct. 1, but the team hasn't yet announced a starter for the Sept. 29 game.

With Mike Clevinger now scheduled to begin the postseason as a reliever, the Cleveland Indians will skip him in their Week 25 rotation.

Sam Gaviglio was skipped in the Kansas City Royals' rotation on Sunday, and it's unclear whether he'll get a start during Week 25.

The Minnesota Twins moved Ervin Santana up by a day to Thursday in order to line him up to start the American League wild-card game on Oct. 3.

Lance McCullers Jr. (fatigue) rejoined the Houston Astros' bullpen on Sunday, giving the team a six-man rotation.

Andrew Heaney (shoulder) is questionable to make another start for the Los Angeles Angels during the regular season. His turn in their rotation would next arrive on Thursday, and Bud Norris is expected to get another start in that game.

Jharel Cotton (elbow) has been shut down for the season by the Oakland Athletics, so Raul Alcantara will start in his place on Sept. 29.

The Seattle Mariners have shut down Felix Hernandez and Mike Leake for the season, so Marco Gonzales and Andrew Moore will start the Sept. 29-30 games. James Paxton is "50/50" to make the Oct. 1 start.

Mike Foltynewicz (finger) isn't likely to make another start for the Atlanta Braves this season, so Lucas Sims is expected to fill in again on Sept. 30.

The New York Mets are expected to give Noah Syndergaard another start during Week 25, but it's unclear whether he'll replace someone or be used for an inning or two with another typical starter following him in relief.

The Milwaukee Brewers haven't indicated whether or not Aaron Wilkerson will get another start, but the team can use its Monday off-day to push his spot in the rotation back to Sept. 30.

John Gant filled the rotation spot of Jack Flaherty, whom the St. Louis Cardinals moved to the bullpen in order to keep his innings in check, on Sunday. That turn next arrives on Sept. 29.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will give Hyun-Jin Ryu another start on Sept. 29, but they are undecided on an Oct. 1 starter. Yu Darvish might get that start in order to give him some experience at Coors Field, or the Dodgers could select a spot starter to fill in for him.

Madison Bumgarner has been shut down for the season, so the San Francisco Giants will give Matt Cain a spot start in his place on Sept. 30.
