Welcome to the new and improved version of the Fantasy Baseball Forecaster! This year, we've reorganized the story into four parts; it's the same great intel, but you get right where you need to go as quickly as possible. Good luck this season!
Here's the scheduled starter for each game from May 29 to June 4, including a projected game score for each pitcher in each matchup. A 50 is typically deemed a "quality start" by this measure, while a 70 is considered a dominant start:
Pitching scuttlebutt
Francisco Liriano (DL: shoulder) rejoined the Toronto Blue Jays' rotation on June 2, giving the team a six-man rotation for the week. J.A. Happ's next start won't come until Week 10.
The Chicago White Sox have off days on June 1 and 4 (Monday of Week 10), affording them the luxury of skipping their May 29 spot starter, David Holmberg, in Week 9 if they wish. The team apparently plans to keep its rotation in turn.
With Danny Duffy (DL: oblique) and Nate Karns (DL: forearm) sidelined, the Kansas City Royals will move Jason Hammel up to start on June 3, making it likely the team will wait until June 6 (Tuesday of Week 10) to make a decision on a fifth starter. Eric Skoglund will make another start for the team on June 4.
Alex Meyer (DL: back) rejoined the Los Angeles Angels' rotation on June 1, pushing their other starters back by a day. He assumed the spot occupied by Parker Bridwell on May 30.
Tyson Ross (DL: thoracic outlet syndrome) made a rehabilitation start for Triple-A Round Rock on May 29, and the Texas Rangers plan to give him one more rehab start on June 3 before activating him. He'll likely return during week 10.
Jeff Locke (DL: biceps), who made a rehabilitation start for Double-A Jacksonville on May 25, rejoined the Miami Marlins' rotation on June 1, replacing Vance Worley. Worley will fill in for Justin Nicolino (DL: finger/blood blister) on June 4 instead.
Tyler Pill, who filled in for the New York Mets on May 30, will make another start for them on June 4. Steven Matz (DL: elbow) and Seth Lugo (DL: elbow) are both set for late-week minor league rehabilitation starts, so neither is considered an option for Week 9.
Amir Garrett (DL: hip) will rejoin the Cincinnati Reds on June 4, bumping Lisalverto Bonilla to the bullpen.
Taijuan Walker (DL: blister) won't be ready to rejoin the Arizona Diamondbacks' rotation on June 4 as expected, so Braden Shipley will take that turn instead.
Jeff Hoffman will make a spot start June 4 for the Colorado Rockies, filling in for Tyler Anderson (DL: knee).
