Potential September fantasy baseball superstars to add for the stretch run

Fantasy MLB

Back in 2000, we saw what could very reasonably be called the greatest month of September by a player in the history of the sport. Since 1913, there have been only five seasons where a player hit at least 10 home runs, drove in at least 20 runs, and hit over .400 from September 1 until the end of the season.

Four of those names are among the greatest to ever play the game: Rogers Hornsby (1922), Joe DiMaggio (1948), Stan Musial (1953) and Barry Bonds, who would accomplish the feat the following season, in 2001. However, the fifth member of this elite club caught lightning in a bottle in 2000, culminating in a last month of the season for the ages: a .477 batting average, 1.486 OPS, 11 HR, 32 RBI and, for good measure, five stolen bases.
