Mayo's injury not season-threatening

Patriots coach Bill Belichick said that based on the information he has at this time, the injury that knocked linebacker Jerod Mayo out of Monday's win over the Bills is not a season-ending type of situation.

Belichick's remarks came on an afternoon conference call with reporters. When asked if he had more information to provide, Belichick said he did not.

Mayo, the reigning Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year, walked off the field under his own power after sustaining the injury on a 16-yard Fred Jackson first-quarter run. He retreated to the locker room and did not return to action.
