Saint-Etienne against Lille.

Things weren't so rosy for Victor Osimhen in Serie A, the Nigerian handed the first red card of his Napoli career as they defeated Venezia.

The triumph was secured almost entirely without contribution from the Nigeria striker, who was sent off for violent conduct in the 22nd minute after he was deemed to have struck Daan Heymans during a melee at a corner.

The red card and ensuing suspension represents a major setback for the forward, who desperately needed a strong start to the season after an unconvincing maiden campaign in Italy.

The striker is yet to score this term, and now must wait until mid-September in order to get off the mark.

"[Osimhen] has to be careful with his emotional responses," Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti said.

"He'll always have his hands on defenders, and must be careful."

Arnaut Danjuma made his Villarreal debut in LaLiga after signing from Bournemouth -- stepping onto the pitch in the 86th minute of their 0-0 draw with Espanyol -- while Nigerian compatriot Taiwo Awoniyi extended his fine start to life after Liverpool with an equaliser for Union Berlin in the German Bundesliga.

Awoniyi finally left Anfield after six years this summer, penning a permanent deal with Union, and he has two goals in two games this season.
