PHILADELPHIA -- The Washington Nationals have selected right-hander Mike MacDougal from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned catcher Luke Montz to Double-A Harrisburg.
The moves, made before Washington's game Friday at the Philadelphia Phillies, are another effort to help the Nationals bullpen.
MacDougal had two saves and a 3.24 ERA in eight relief appearances at Syracuse. He signed a minor league deal with the Nationals on May 3, after pitching for the White Sox earlier this season.
Montz was recalled from Harrisburg on Wednesday, when the Nationals designated right-hander Daniel Cabrera for assignment.
