Carolina beat Florida 3-2 in overtime on Monday night and improved to 8-1-2 in its last 11 games. The Hurricanes moved past Pittsburgh into fifth place in the East.

New York Rangers defenseman Michal Rozsival is expected to be sidelined for seven to 10 days because of an undisclosed lower body injury. Rozsival appeared to injure his left leg during the second period of New York's 2-1 home loss to Ottawa on Sunday when he was crunched against the boards by Senators forward Shean Donovan. ... Minnesota Wild center Mikko Koivu hurt his right knee in Sunday's win over Edmonton and will miss at least the next week, if not the remainder of the regular season. ... Patrik Elias sat out New Jersey's 4-2 loss at Philadelphia because of lower body soreness.
