Portland 73, Loyola Marymount 65

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Kramer Knutson scored a career high 19 points to lead Portland to a 73-65 victory over upset-minded Loyola Marymount on Saturday.

Loyola entered the game with a 0-14 road record but used a suffocating defense to keep the Pilots, (18-9, 9-3 West Coast Conference), off balance most of the night.

That helped Loyola overcome 33 percent halftime shooting, which made for their 9-32 halftime deficit.

But the Lions heated up in the second half to take a 48-47 lead on Brad Sweezy?s driving basket with 13:19 left. Loyola kept the lead until the 5:27 mark and a dunk by Knutson, which put Portland ahead 57-56.

Jarred Dubois led Loyola (2-26, 1-11 WCC) with 19 points. Vernon Teel added 18.

Portland finished with five players in double figures, including a 15-point effort by Nik Raivio, who had 10 rebounds.
