Thursday

-Tomas Vokoun, Panthers, made 42 saves for his fourth shutout of the season and 29th overall in Florida's 5-0 victory in Carolina.

-Jason Arnott and Steve Sullivan, Predators. Arnott tied it with 3 seconds left in regulation, and Sullivan scored the only goal in a shootout in Nashville's 4-3 home victory over St. Louis.

-Miikka Kiprusoff, Flames, made 36 saves for his fourth shutout of the season and 30th in the NHL in Calgary's 2-0 victory in Los Angeles.

-Dany Heatley and Brian Elliott, Senators. Heatley scored twice, and Elliott made 34 saves in Ottawa's 5-2 victory in Philadelphia.

-Ryan Malone, Lightning, scored twice in a 54-second span in the first period in Tampa Bay's 6-4 home victory over Toronto.

STATS

Florida, 6-2 since the All-Star break, is tied for eighth in the Eastern Conference with Buffalo, three points ahead of Carolina and Pittsburgh. ... Detroit has won six straight. ... Ottawa has won three straight for the first time this season.

SIDELINED

New York Islanders center Doug Weight was expected to be sidelined six weeks because of a knee injury. Weight was hurt Wednesday night against New Jersey.

SUSPENDED

Montreal center Tomas Plekanec was suspended for two games without pay by the NHL for tripping Edmonton defenseman Denis Grebeshkov from behind Wednesday night. Plekanec was assessed a minor penalty for tripping on the play that injured Grebeshkov.

STATUS

Phoenix assigned 19-year-old center Kyle Turris to San Antonio on Thursday, and recalled defenseman David Schlemko from the American Hockey League affiliate. Turris, the former University of Wisconsin star selected third overall in 2007, has six goals and 10 assists in 50 games this season.

SCOUTING

Harry Young scored in overtime to give the Ontario Hockey League-leading Windsor Spitfires their sixth straight victory, 4-3 over the visiting Sarnia Sting on Thursday night. Adam Henrique had two goals for Windsor. ... Zack Kassian had three goals and an assist in the Peterborough Petes' 7-4 home victory over the Guelph Storm.
