Hampton 56, Md.-Eastern Shore 42

HAMPTON, Va. -- Vincent Simpson scored 16 points to help Hampton end a three-game skid with a 56-42 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Monday night.

The Pirates (11-12, 5-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) had a poor shooting night, hitting only 36.8 percent of their shots (21 of 57), but the Hawks were worse at 29.8 percent (14 of 47).

Hampton led 30-23 at halftime and by 17 points with 6:26 left. Simpson, the only Pirates player to score in double figures, was 4-for-8 from long range. Kwame Morgan added nine points and 10 rebounds.

The Hawks (6-17, 2-8) scored their lowest point total of the season en route to their fifth straight loss.

Neal Pitt led Maryland-Eastern Shore with 12 points and Josh Bright had 10.

Hampton is 18-5 against the Hawks since joining the MEAC, including the last 15 games. Maryland-Eastern Shore last won in the 1999-2000 season.
