Tim Thomas made 26 saves for the Bruins, who lost for the fifth time in 21 games.

Langenbrunner and Zach Parise scored to give the Devils a 2-0 lead after two, but Boston took its first lead on Dennis Wideman's slap shot with 6:30 left. New Jersey tied it on Patrik Elias' goal with 1:45 to play in regulation.

Hurricanes 3, Lightning 2

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Eric Staal scored with 1:36 remaining to lift Carolina past Tampa Bay.

Matt Cullen had a goal and an assist, Chad LaRose also scored and Cam Ward earned his 100th NHL victory for the Hurricanes. Carolina, which had lost six of eight, played just its second home game since Jan. 6 and improved to 4-0 against the Lightning.

Mark Recchi finished with a goal and an assist, and Ryan Malone also scored for Tampa Bay, which was denied its first four-game winning streak since November 2007.

Ward, making his 15th straight start, stopped 27 shots and improved to 6-1 in his last seven starts against the Lightning.

Islanders 5, Thrashers 4

ATLANTA -- Kyle Okposo had his first two-goal game in the NHL, and goalie Yann Danis survived a shaky third period in the New York Islanders' victory over Atlanta.

In a matchup featuring two of the league's three worst teams, the Islanders snapped a 14-game losing streak on the road (0-13-1) with their first consecutive victories since late November.

The Thrashers, losers of three straight, dropped to 9-14-2 at home. Only the Islanders' 19 points at home are fewer than Atlanta's 20.

Doug Weight's eighth goal chased Thrashers goalie Kari Lehtonen, who faced just 15 shots, just 13:17 into the game.

With 7:21 remaining, Okposo's ninth goal, a wrister from the bottom of the right circle, gave New York a 5-3 lead and made a tough-luck loser out of Johan Hedberg, who stopped 17 of 18 shots.

Senators 3, Blues 1

ST. LOUIS -- Peter Regin scored his first goal in the NHL with 1:57 left and lifted Ottawa over St. Louis.

Regin broke a 1-1 deadlock when he gained control of the puck on the left side, skated behind the Blues net and beat goalie Chris Mason with a wrist shot from the right circle.

Mike Fisher, who had scored an earlier short-handed tally, added an empty-net goal with 32.4 seconds remaining. Brian Elliott made 22 saves for the Senators.

Brad Winchester had the only goal for St. Louis.
