PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Neal Pitt scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Maryland-Eastern Shore to a 54-50 victory against Florida A&M on Saturday.
Gary Lee added 12 points and the Hawks (5-11, 3-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) held the Rattlers (6-11, 4-2) to just five points in the final 9:58 of the game.
Pitt's two free throws gave the Hawks a 52-50 lead with 3:08 remaining in the game.
Maryland-Eastern Shore shot 15 of 28 from the free-throw line (53.6 percent) and had 25 turnovers, but had a 42-33 advantage on the boards.
Keishawn Mayes grabbed eight rebounds and Tyler Hines pulled down seven for the Hawks after missing the last three games with a sprained ankle.
Florida A&M shot just 32.1 percent from the field (17 of 53) and was 3 of 21 from behind the arc.
Lamar Twitty scored 14 points to lead the Rattlers.
