McGrady, Artest out; Knicks' Curry to sit

HOUSTON -- Houston guard Tracy McGrady and forward Ron Artest missed the Rockets' 96-76 victory Saturday night over New York because of injuries.

McGrady has soreness in his left knee, the aftereffects of offseason surgery. He scored 26 points Friday night in a win in Oklahoma City and has skipped the second game in the Rockets' last four back-to-back sets to rest his knee.

Artest sat out for the fourth time in five games because of a sprained right ankle. Artest saw a doctor on Saturday and said he was going to talk to trainer Keith Jones and coach Rick Adelman before determining when he would play again.

"I thought I was fine, but maybe I'm not," said Artest, who played 30 minutes and scored 17 points in Houston's 89-85 win in Boston on Wednesday night.

Forward Shane Battier returned for Houston on Saturday night after staying home for the Rockets' just-completed five game road trip because of inflammation in his left foot, an injury that's bothered him since the offseason.

Knicks center Eddy Curry sat out with a sore left knee after making his season debut in Dallas on Thursday night. Curry missed the first 33 games of the season because of a right knee injury.
