Tennessee St. 83, SE Missouri 72

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Jerrell Houston had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Tennessee State to a 83-72 win over Southeast Missouri on Saturday.

Gerald Robinson led all scorers with 21 points for Tennessee State (3-4, 1-1 Ohio Valley). Parker Smith added 16 points, Darius Cox had 13 and Stephen Evans had 10 for the Tigers.

Smith, who entered the game averaging 5.8 points, connected on five straight 3-pointers in the second half, all within a five-minute span.

Johnny Hill led Southeast Missouri (2-6, 0-2) with a career-high 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Calvin Williams scored 17, Jaycen Herring had 15 and Jajuan Maxwell added 12 for the Redhawks.

The Redhawks went on a 12-2 run in the first half and led 29-27 at halftime.

But Tennessee State exploded to a 62-50 lead with 8 minutes left after Smith scored 10 straight points, including a four-point play.
