McCoughtry's double-double helps Louisville over Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Angel McCoughtry had a game-high 24 points and 13 rebounds, leading Louisville (No. 15 ESPN/USA Today, No. 13 AP) to a 67-44 victory over Middle Tennessee on Thursday night.

McCoughtry scored 15 points in the second half as Louisville built on a 31-24 halftime lead. Candyce Bingham had 14 points, and Deseree Byrd and Keshia Hines added 11 each for the Cardinals.

Louisville (6-1) held Middle Tennessee to one field goal the first 13 minutes of the second half to take control of the game.

The Blue Raiders (5-2) missed their first seven shots in the second half as Louisville connected on seven of 11 to take a 47-33 lead. Louisville then scored 11 straight points to take its largest lead at 58-33 with 7 minutes left.

Louisville scored eight straight points during the final 3:34 of the first half to erase a 24-23 MTSU advantage.

Alysha Clark scored 18 points and Emily Queen added 17 to pace Middle Tennessee.
