Niagara 65, Buffalo 61

AMHERST, N.Y. -- Tyrone Lewis scored 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds as Niagara defeated Buffalo 65-61 Tuesday.

Lewis went 7-of-19 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the foul line. Benson Egemonye scored 11 points with five rebounds but his key block of Calvin Betts' attempt at a game-winning layup with 14 seconds left helped seal the win for Niagara (3-1).

Rodney Pierce led Buffalo (2-2) with 16 points and seven rebounds. Mitchell Watt had 13 points and six boards.

Niagara was up 42-31 at halftime but led by as many as 15 in the first half, keyed by an 11-2 run. The Purple Eagles also went 11-of-13 from the foul line.

But the Bulls rallied to close within one point as Greg Gamble's layup pulled Buffalo to 62-61 with just 57.9 seconds left.
