BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Garret Callahan scored 23 points and Clint Sargent added 15 in South Dakota State's 69-65 victory over Upper Iowa on Tuesday.
The winning Jackrabbits (2-3) managed a 34-27 halftime lead despite shooting only 33 percent in the first half. SDSU finished with a 38 percent shooting average to 50 percent for Upper Iowa (0-3).
Dylan Diedrich was 7-11 from the field and scored 18 points for Upper Iowa.
Callahan was 7-11 in 3-point shots. Kai Williams added 10 points and 9 rebounds for South Dakota State.
