Albany, N.Y. 76, Bryant 67

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Tim Ambrose scored 24 points and eight rebounds to lead Albany to a 76-67 win over Bryant on Wednesday night.

Albany improved to 1-2 as they spoiled Bryant's Division I debut.

Bryant led by five points in the opening half. But the Great Danes went up 14-11 on a 3-pointer by Louis Barraza and used a 16-7 run over the final eight minutes of the half to take a 39-35 lead at intermission. Albany pushed its lead to 21 points with 16:05 remaining in the second half.

Bryant finished with 14 offensive turnovers. The Bulldogs collected 20 points from Barry Latham and 12 each from Chris Birrell and Cecil Gresham.

Anthony Raffa and Barraza had nine points for Albany.

The Bulldogs are in the first year of a four-year transition to Division I. They'll join the Northeast Conference in 2012.
