Idaho 91, Evergreen St. 69

MOSCOW, Idaho -- The University of Idaho scored 57 second-half points to defeat Evergreen State 91-69 in its season opener Friday night.

Mac Hopson led the Vandals (1-0) with 19 points, Kashif Watson added 17 points -- 13 on free throws -- and Luciano de Souza scored 16.

NAIA All-American Nathan Menefee scored 28 points for Evergreen State, but the Geoducks (3-1) committed 30 fouls and 19 turnovers.

Idaho led 44-38 at the half and used a 23-10 run midway through the second half to pull away for the victory.

The game was marked by fouls. In the opening half, the two teams combined for 12 fouls and only nine points in the opening 4:13. Two Evergreen State players fouled out and three ended with four fouls.
