If there's a part of College Bowl Mania you find confusing, it's probably bewildered someone else as well. Following are the questions most commonly asked by our entrants.
Q: How do I change my entry name?
A: You can change your entry name by clicking on the "Edit Entry Settings" link on your entry page. You can change your entry name as often as you'd like.
Q: How do I change my entry's scoring system?
A: You can change your entry's scoring system by clicking on the "Edit Entry Settings" link on your entry page. You will not be allowed to change this after the first game kicks off on December 20, 2008.
Q: How do I create an entry?
A: From the game's frontpage click on the "Create Entry" button. You will then be asked to optionally edit your entry settings such as entry name. After you are done editing these options, click the submit button at the bottom of the page. You have now created an entry. From your entry page, you now can make your bowl games picks/selections for and create or join a group with that entry.
Q: How many groups can I join?
A: You may join up to three (3) different groups with the same entry. In the past, participants were allowed to create 3 different entries, but this season we've added functionality to allow entrants the ability to compete in different groups while using their original picks and ensuring their integrity is rock solid.
Q: What are Confidence Points?
A: The higher the confidence you assign to a game, the more points you will earn if you have selected the winning team. Each game must have a different confidence value assigned to it from 1 to 34. For example, if you assign 34 points (because you are very confident) to Ohio State winning the game against Michigan, and Ohio State wins, your entry will receive 34 points for the correct selection.
Q: How do I give a game a different number of Confidence Points
A: On the entry page, simply drag the game in question to the desired level of confidence. The top of the list will always represent games with higher confidence values.
Q: What if I don't want to play with Confidence Points?
A: You don't have to! You may change the scoring type your entry will use by clicking "Edit Entry Settings" on the "My Entry" page. If you select "Straight Scoring" to be your scoring type, you will only be picking the winner of each bowl game without assigning Confidence Points to each one.
Q: When do game selections lock?
A: Entries using the confidence scoring system will have a single lock which takes place at the first kickoff of the first game of the college football bowl season (Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 11:00 am ET). Entries using the straight scoring system, however, will use a rolling lock which allows a player to pick any game that has yet to kick off. For confidence entries, in order to maximize the opportunity to accrue the most points, register and submit your entry no later than the scheduled locktime. Selections submitted after the deadlines are considered invalid. Sponsor's computer is the official time keeping device for this game. Please read section 5-4 of the rules for more information regarding the single lock.
