NEW YORK -- Grand Champion pulled away to a 2½-length win over He's So Chic Thursday in the $56,000 allowance feature at Aqueduct.
After battling Songster for the early lead, Grand Champion took charge in deep stretch for his sixth win in 15 starts. The 5-year-old gelding ridden by Eibar Coa and trained by Jimmy Jerkens ran the six furlongs in 1:10 on the muddy track.
Grand Champion paid $8.20, $3.90 and $2.20. He's So Chic returned $3.60 and $2.40. Songster earned $2.10 to show.
