CHARLESTON, S.C. -- John Paglia hit a 26-yard field with 1 second remaining in the game to lift Charleston Southern to a 13-10 victory over Gardner-Webb on Saturday.
Paglia's game-winning kick was set up by Gerald Stevenson's 65-yard kickoff return after Gardner-Webb (2-3, 0-1 Big South) tied the game at 10-10 on Ryan Gates' 21-yard field goal with 1:46 left.
Tribble Reese hit Kwame Krakue on a 24-yard pass to Gardner-Webb's 11 and Reese rushed for 1 yard before Paglia's attempt.
Reese finished with 135 yards passing for Charleston Southern (2-3, 1-0), which scored its only touchdown on Alex Neal's 31-yard pass to Tim Jones with 3:01 left in the first quarter.
Stan Doolittle was 27-for-41 for 310 yards but threw three interceptions for Gardner-Webb. Doolittle's 5-yard pass to Dobson Collins with 2:07 remaining in the second quarter accounted for the Bulldogs' only score.
Collins finished with nine catches for 113 yards.
