If You're Hardcore: Josh Johnson returns

Marlins right-hander Josh Johnson made his return from Tommy John surgery on Thursday with five solid innings versus the Dodgers. Johnson allowed three runs, but struck out six without issuing a walk. The club also recalled Chris Volstad to join the rotation, announcing that Mark Hendrickson and Ryan Tucker have been sent to the bullpen.

The Marlins have a deep, deep group of minor league arms, but have struggled to find stability at the back of their rotation this season, and Sergio Mitre and Anibal Sanchez have been on the disabled list all year. Rick VandenHurk and Burke Badenhop made 10 combined starts before being felled with injuries themselves. Tucker and Eulogio De La Cruz were ineffective.
