Cabrera forced out of game with hip injury, listed day-to-day

MINNEAPOLIS -- Detroit first baseman Miguel Cabrera left the game against Minnesota on Monday night because of a tight left hip flexor.

Cabrera hobbled a little after he reached to his left and dropped a low throw from third baseman Carlos Guillen in the second inning. He is listed as day-to-day.

Clete Thomas pinch-hit for Cabrera in the third inning. Thomas played left field and Marcus Thames moved to first.

The four-time National League all-star was acquired from Florida on Dec. 5, 2007. He entered the game hitting .281 with 11 home runs and 48 RBIs. He signed a $153 million, eight-year contract March 25.
