VIENNA, June 20 - Croatia and Turkey were drawing
0-0 at halftime in an absorbing Euro 2008 quarter-final held
amid tight security at the Ernst Happel stadium on Friday.
The first chance fell to Turkey in the fifth minute when
Hamit Altintop's low drive from 25 metres flew wide.
But the Croatians gradually found their stride, with Ivan
Rakitic on the left and Luka Modric on the right looking
dangerous.
Croatia should have taken the lead in the 19th minute when
Modric's low cross found striker Ivica Olic six metres out but
he rattled the bar and Niko Kranjcar headed the rebound over.
