CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- David Marek scored 30 points, going 15-for-17 from the foul line, to lead Southern Utah to a 99-89 overtime win over Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne on Saturday night.

Geoff Payne scored 22 points and Nurudeen Adepoju added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Thunderbirds (11-18, 9-9 Summit), who have won six of their last seven.

Jaraun Burrows scored 21 points to lead IPFW (12-17, 9-9). David Carson had 18 points, DeWitt Scott scored 15 and Chris Perkins added 11.

Southern Utah outscored IPFW 17-7 in overtime, going 10-for-12 from the foul line.

Cris Hoopes, who scored six of his eight points in overtime, hit two key layups in a 40-second stretch, the second of which opened a 13-0 spurt and clinched the victory.

The Thunderbirds trailed 82-78 with 9.1 seconds left in regulation before Hoopes and Adepoju teamed up to send it to overtime.

Hoopes hit two free throws to cut the lead to two points. When IPFW inbounded the ball, Hoopes stole the pass and passed to Adepoju, whose layup with 4.9 seconds to go tied it.

The officials called 60 fouls in the game. Between them, the two teams shot 85 free throws; six players fouled out.

With the win, Southern Utah tied the Mastodons for fifth place in the Summit League standings. The two teams will face each other in the opening round of the conference tournament, scheduled for March 8-11 in Tulsa, Okla.
