Ghana beats Ivory Coast 4-2 for 3rd place at African Cup

KUMASI, Ghana -- Ghana captured third place at the African
Cup of Nations, rallying past Ivory Coast 4-2 Saturday with two
late goals.

Sulley Muntari put Ghana ahead in the 10th minute, but Boubacar
Sanogo dribbled past John Mensah to tie it in the 24th and then
scored again seven minutes later to give Ivory Coast a 2-1 lead.

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie evened the score for Ghana from close range
in the 70th. Michael Essien set up Junior Agogo in the 80th and
Haminu Draman scored again for Ghana with a 25-yard shot five
minutes later.

"We played a fantastic game," Ghana coach Claude Le Roy said.

The game featured three stars from Chelsea of the Premier
League: Ghana's Essien and Ivory Coast's Didier Drogba and Salomon
Kalou.

Cameroon meets Egypt in Sunday's final in Accra. Cameroon failed
to qualify for the 2006 World Cup when it was held to a 1-1 tie at
home by Egypt in its final qualifier. Egypt also beat Cameroon 4-2
in an opening group match of this tournament.

"Every cycle must come to an end," Cameroon coach Otto Pfister
said. "And so tomorrow we will break this cycle."

Cameroon will be looking to match Egypt's total of five African
Cup titles when the teams meet at Ohene Djan stadium. The
70-year-old Pfister has yet to win the African Cup after losing to
Ivory Coast as coach of Ghana in 1992.
