Southeastern Louisiana beats McNeese State, 80-61

HAMMOND, La. -- Patrick Sullivan scored a career-high 20
points to lead three players in double figures as Southeastern
Louisiana defeated McNeese State 80-61 on Wednesday in a Southland
Conference matchup.

Warrell Span scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half while
Kevyn Green added 15 as Southeastern (13-8, 5-3 SLC) moved into a
tie for second-place in the SLC East Division with idle
Northwestern State.

Southeastern used a 14-6 run midway through the first half that
extended a one-point lead to 23-14 on Dekyron Nicks' 3-pointer with
6:41 remaining.

The Lions, who went 1-for-12 from behind the arc in their last
game, finished 6-for-11 against McNeese State (8-11, 2-5 SLC) with
Green sinking 4-of-8 attempts.

Sullivan scored 14 points in the first half and finished
8-for-12 from the floor. The 6-foot-9 sophomore also blocked a pair
of shots to increase his career total to 88, tying him with former
Lion Jonathan Walker for fourth in school history.

Southeastern, which led 38-25 at the break, held the Cowboys to
38.2 percent shooting from the field and forced 22 turnovers.

McNeese State, which was led by Jarvis Bradley's 18 points,
closed to within 43-31 on a layup by John Pichon at the 14:47 mark,
but Southeastern outscored the Cowboys, 11-0, over the next 3:11 to
take a 54-31 lead.

Green sank his fourth 3-pointer of the game with 1:11 remaining
that gave Southeastern an 80-53 lead before McNeese closed out the
game on an 8-0 run with freshmen Stephan Martin and Anthony
Robinson drilling 3-pointers and Pichon driving the lane for a
dunk.
