Lamar 89, McNeese St. 67

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) -- Justin Nabors came off the bench to score 19 of his 23 points in the second half as Lamar beat McNeese State 89-67 Saturday night.

Nabors went 9-of-13 from the field and grabbed 12 rebounds for Lamar (11-8, 5-1 Southland), which had trouble putting away McNeese (8-9, 2-4) until late in the game.

McNeese led 21-19 before Lamar closed the first half on a 13-4 run capped by a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws from Jay Brown.

The Cowboys then pulled within 54-49 on Jarvis Bradley's layup midway through the second half, but Lamar again went on a big run. Nabors hit two layups and Currye Todd made two 3-pointers during the 12-2 spurt that put the Cardinals ahead 66-51.

Bradley led McNeese with 19 points, and Kleon Penn added 12 points and nine rebounds.

Darren Hopkins finished with 16 points and eight rebounds for Lamar, and Matthew Barrow added 15 points. Todd scored 11.
