RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) -- Larry Cunningham scored 20 points and Aaron Scott had 16 points and 10 rebounds Saturday to lead UC Riverside to a 70-66 win over Cal State Long Beach.
The Highlanders (4-12, 1-4 Big West) overcame a seven-point second half deficit in earning their first conference victory of the year and snapping a six-game losing streak.
Donovan Morris had 19 points for Long Beach State (4-12, 1-4), which went cold from the free-throw line down the stretch, missing 5-of-6 opportunities inside of two minutes.
Sean Cunningham gave Riverside its first lead since late in the first half when he made good on a three-point play opportunity with just :47 left to play.
The 49ers shot 33 percent from the 3-point line in the second half, including a pair from Cornel Williams who finished with 12 points.
Cunningham scored 10 after his team fell behind 62-55 with 4:21 to play in the game.
