Torn knee ligament sidelines Oilers forward Torres for rest of season

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Edmonton Oilers left-winger Raffi Torres will have surgery to repair a torn knee ligament and will
miss the rest of the season.

The team said Monday that Torres will have surgery to repair the
anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He hasn't played
since hurting the knee in a game against Detroit on Dec. 13.

Torres, the fifth overall pick in the 2000 NHL draft, had five
goals and six assists in 32 games this season. He played in 82
games each of the past two seasons for Edmonton.
