NORFOLK, Va. -- Casey Hansen threw two touchdown passes to
Jamar Johnson as Norfolk State defeated Winston-Salem State 23-20
Saturday.
Hansen's 15-yard scoring pass to Johnson with 37 seconds left in
the first half gave the Spartans (8-3) a 16-13 lead. The pair
connected again on a 21-yard play in the third quarter, capping a
10-play, 69-yard drive.
Johnson finished with seven receptions for 116 yards. Hansen was
24-of-41 for 221 yards.
Monte Purvis of Winston-Salem State (6-5) ran for a 12-yard
touchdown and threw a 34-yard scoring pass to Bryant Bayne, who had
three receptions for 54 yards. Purvis had 71 yards on 16 carries
and was 6-of-15 for 88 yards passing.
William Haynes had a 24-yard fumble return for a touchdown for
the Rams, and Daryl Jones scored on a 1-yard run for Norfolk State.
