Brown 30, Columbia 22

NEW YORK (AP) -- Bobby Sewall ran for 83 yards, caught 12 passes for 83 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Brown to a 30-22 victory over Columbia on Saturday.

Columbia (1-9, 0-7) rallied from a 21-0 deficit to close to 24-22 with 19 straight points in the third and early fourth quarters.

Mitch Dougherty started the Bears (5-5, 4-3 Ivy League) early burst with a 17-yard scoring pass to Buddy Farnham.

Sewall, normally a flanker, scored on runs of 3 and 1 yard.

Brown has won 10 of 11 against Columbia. The Lions finished the season with eight straight losses.

Craig Hormann started the Columbia rally with a 9-yard scoring pass to Nico Gutierrez. Hormann was 35-for-55 for 326 yards.

Jon Rocholl kicked two field goals and Eugene Edwards returned Sewall's fumble 69 yards for another touchdown with 11:37 to play.

Steve Morgan kicked field goals of 25 and 32 yards, his second and third of the game, in the fourth quarter to give the Bears their final margin.

Brown scored on its first three possessions to take a 21-0 lead after the first quarter and the teams traded field goals in the second quarter to leave the Bears with a 24-3 halftime lead.

Dougherty completed 27 of 40 passes for 254 yards.
