SE Missouri 87, Culver-Stockton 78

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- Roderick Pearson scored 18 points and Southeast Missouri survived a scare in its home opener to beat Culver-Stockton 87-78 Friday night.

After a 32-32 tie at halftime, NAIA school Culver-Stockton (2-3) took a 45-41 lead early in the second half.

The game was tied at 52-52 with less than nine minutes to play, but SE Missouri (1-2) went on a 13-2 run to take the lead for good.

Marcus Rhodes scored 14 points for SE Missouri and Brandon Foust added 12.

Jordan Harris led Culver-Stockton with 21 points, Brice Fantazia had 17 and Coy Bainter had 14.
