FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots running back
Laurence Maroney was inactive for the second straight game with a
groin injury, leaving Sammy Morris as their primary running back
against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
Maroney, expected to be the primary back after Corey Dillon
wasn't re-signed, rushed for 252 yards in the first three games.
Last Sunday, Morris ran for 117 yards and a touchdown in a 34-13
win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
New England center Dan Koppen was inactive for the first time
this season with an ankle injury. Russ Hochstein started in his
place.
For Cleveland, punter Dave Zastudil was inactive for the fourth
game with a back injury. Former Patriots nose tackle Ted Washington
also was inactive, although he was not on the Browns injury report.
Another former New England player, linebacker Willie McGinest, was
active for the second straight game after recovering from back
surgery.
