Ovechkin scores 2 goals, tallies 2 assists as Capitals beat Flyers 7-5

WASHINGTON -- Alex Ovechkin scored two goals and had two
assists, including on the game-winner from Tomas Fleischmann, as
the Washington Capitals scored five straight third-period goals to
beat the Philadelphia Flyers 7-5 on Friday night.

The Capitals (3-2-1) trailed 5-2 after the Flyers' Simon Gagne
scored early in the third period. Moments later the lead was one,
when Matt Pettinger and Viktor Kozlov, with an assist from
Ovechkin, scored 23 seconds apart.

Ovechkin scored his second goal off his own rebound with 2:49
remaining to tie the score at 5, and just over a minute later he
found Fleischmann, who slammed the puck past Flyers goalie Antero
Niittymaki. David Steckel added an empty net goal, his second of
the game, and Kozlov and Boyd Gordon each tacked on two assists.

The Capitals outshot the Flyers 41-19.

Danny Briere had an assist and two power play goals, all in the
second period, as the Flyers (3-4) took an early 4-1 lead. Mike
Richards' shorthanded goal past Capitals goalie Olaf Kolzig in the
first period put the Flyers up 1-0. Denis Gauthier scored the
second goal, and Gagne and Mike Knuble each added two assists.
