Quinn's statistics misleading

The Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions faced off over the weekend and both teams came away feeling good about their quarterback situations. The statistics can be misleading during the preseason, though. While Browns first-round pick Brady Quinn stole the headlines with his impressive numbers, it is the Lions Jon Kitna who will steal the show during the regular season.

Quinn's much-anticipated debut was nothing less than spectacular. He did not enter the game until 9:20 remained in the fourth quarter but still completed 13-of-20 passes with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Quinn had a quarterback rating of 121.9, which was the highest for Browns' quarterback in any game in a long time.

The thing to remember before Quinn is deemed the savior of the Cleveland franchise, however, is that his performance came against a third-string Detroit defense that was playing soft coverage in order to secure a 23-7 lead. He should get credit for his performance, but not as much as he has received; he was playing against guys who will likely not be on Detroit's regular-season roster.
