Engel: What to expect from the rookies

How good will this year's rookies be for fantasy purposes in the future? Keeper and dynasty league owners certainly want to know, and any fantasy football owner is curious about what to expect in the future from this year's top incoming running backs, wide receivers and quarterbacks. So for future projections and some fun too, I will take a look at this year's top rookies and project which current veterans they should be comparable to a few years down the line. Of course, these are all best-case scenarios, and any of these guys could easily become a bust.

Running Backs

Adrian Peterson, Vikings: Peterson has good vision, size and burst, and he has fantasy star potential. Durability is a concern, though. He'll be explosive and highly productive when he is healthy and he can be a No. 1 fantasy running back in time. Statistically, he should draw comparisons to the rushing totals of Edgerrin James in his better years if he can shake off the injury concerns. Remember, we are talking numerical production here, not looking at the players from a pure scouting perspective.
