Rockets re-sign Lucas

HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets signed free agent guard John
Lucas III to a multiyear contract on Friday after waiving him in
January.

The 5-foot-11 Lucas originally signed with Houston on Dec. 29.
He was waived on Jan. 4, then signed two 10-day contracts before he
was released on Jan. 28.

Lucas averaged 23 points and 7.6 assists for the Rockets in five
summer-league games. Last season, Lucas averaged 2.3 points in 13
games.

Lucas III, the son of former NBA star John Lucas, Jr., also
played in 35 games with the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development
League in 2005-06.
