Soccer-Turkey's Nihat to stay at Sociedad until end of season

MADRID, Jan 18 - Real Sociedad's Turkish striker
Nihat Kahveci said on Wednesday he would not leave the Primera
Liga club before the end of the season.

"All I am concerned about is helping Sociedad," he told a
news conference. "Yesterday we decided that I would stay until
May. It was a decision taken jointly between myself and the
club."

The 26-year-old's contract with Sociedad runs out at the end
of this season and media reports had been linking him with a
move to Spartak Moscow in the January transfer window.

Sociedad coach Jose Maria Amorrortu left the player out of
his last two squads because he felt Nihat did not have his mind
focused on the task in hand.

"I don't want to talk about Spartak at present because I am
still a Sociedad player," Nihat said.

"All I want to do is concentrate on my football because we
have a crucial game to play next weekend, and I have not played
for nearly a month."

On Tuesday Nihat's strike partner Darko Kovacevic suffered a
relapse of an Achilles problem which will keep him out of action
until the end of the season.

Sociedad play Athletic Bilbao in the Basque derby on Sunday.
