Soccer-German investiagion finds no evidence of match-fixing

BERLIN, Dec 17 - Germany's Football Association
(DFB) has found no evidence of match-fixing in Sunday's second
division game between Erzgebirge Aue and Rot-Weiss Oberhausen.

The DFB's disciplinary committee launched an investigation
after bookmakers reported vastly increased numbers of bets on
the game, which was won 2-0 by Aue thanks to an own goal and a
penalty.

Officials from both clubs angrily rejected suggestions of a
fix and Oberhausen players signed a statement saying they had
not acted dishonestly.

"After studying the available evidence -- questioning of the
referee, inspection of TV pictures and evaluation of the
assurances of the players -- the committee's chairman Horst
Hilpert finds at present no sufficient suspicion of
manipulation," the DFB said in a statement on Friday.

The committee findings were subject to any new evidence
being discovered, the statement said.
