Predators' P.K. Subban returns to ice after 16-game absence

Nashville Predators defenseman P.K. Subban was activated off injured reserve and returned to the lineup for Friday night's 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Subban, 27, missed 16 games with an upper-body injury and was placed on injured reserve Jan. 1.

Subban said he and his coaches and trainers agreed after Friday morning's skate that he was ready to return.

"I told them last night I'll take the morning skate and see how I felt this morning, and everything was good," Subban said.

Subban, a former Norris Trophy winner, was voted captain of the Central Division for the NHL All-Star Game in Los Angeles on Jan. 29. He has seven goals and 10 assists in his 30 games with Nashville.

To clear a roster spot, Nashville assigned defenseman Alexandre Carrier to its AHL affiliate, Milwaukee.
