Islanders, Cal Clutterbuck agree to five-year, $17.5M extension

The New York Islanders and alternate captain Cal Clutterbuck have agreed to a five-year extension through the 2022-23 season, the team announced Friday.

A source told ESPN's Pierre LeBrun that the deal is worth $17.5 million, with an average annual value of $3.5 million per season.

Clutterbuck, who is in his ninth NHL season, has two goals and seven assists for the Islanders this season. For his career, he has 98 goals and 79 assists.

The Islanders acquired Clutterbuck in a trade with the Minnesota Wild during the 2013 NHL draft. He also represented Team Canada at the 2011 World Championships.
