NHL, Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens said Alex Galchenyuk and David Desharnais each will miss six to eight weeks with knee injuries.

The players met with the team's medical staff on Wednesday in Montreal.

Galchenyuk, the Canadiens' top scorer, and Los Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar banged right knees during their game on Sunday.

The 22-year-old Galchenyuk has 23 points on nine goals and 14 assists.

Desharnais, 30, exited Tuesday night's game against the St. Louis Blues with what the Canadiens called a lower-body injury. He has three goals and six assists.

The Canadiens recalled forward Sven Andrighetto from the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League on Wednesday.
