Outdoor game between Jets, Oilers delayed by sunlight

NHL, Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers

The start of the Heritage Classic -- the outdoor game Sunday between the Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba -- has been delayed by sun.

The game was originally scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET but is now supposed to begin at 4:53 pm ET.

The NHL decided to delay over concern that glare on the ice from the bright sunlight would lead to dangerous conditions for players. Temperatures in Winnipeg were in the mid-40s Fahrenheit, and the ice was covered leading up to game time.
